PVC RC Sub with Basic Stamps

Justin Hulbert | June 16th, 2008 | 3 Comments

I’m in the process of building an RC sub. It’s all built inside a 4” x 50” PVC pipe. Will have a 12v battery power system. All communication will be over an RF radio link, or maybe sonar I have not decided yet. Between two Basic Stamp 2 boards. Will take it to local ponds and pools to explore. Since it will be equipped with a wireless TV camera and other sensors.

Also working on a small electric car with the help of a kid from school using electric wheel char motors they are supper strong but only go about 15mph so we hope to use bike chain and sprockets to bust that to about 35mph. Thing shown is an early experiment we mocked that up real quick to test the speed controller, we want to make it look like a real vehicle possibly even 2 seats.

Fan Powered RC Car

Chris Dycus | May 29th, 2008 | 3 Comments

This is an RC car I built. It’s pretty quick, as you can see in the video. It’s easy to build, despite its complicated looks. Here are the basic steps:

Cut a base out of balsa wood, making sure to cut away parts for the front wheels.

Mount the front wheels, including the servo.

Mount a fan on the back wheels and mount those.

Rig up a servo arm to press a switch; that will be the GO button. Have that switch turn a relay, which then feeds power from the main battery to the fan. Mount it.

Mount the relay battery and the fan battery.

Mount the receiver, and hook up the servos.

Attach the batteries for the receiver.

And that’s about it! Thanks for reading.

rc golden snitch

niklas | April 11th, 2008 | 3 Comments

ive always wondered why no one has made a remotely controlled golden snitch. and with harry potter and ornithopters becoming more popular it would be a huge sell. basically it would just be an I-fly Vamp compressed into a small ball painted gold.
i am currently working on building it and hope it will work
