I would like to see a device made that can make a controller for an Xbox 360, PS3, or other gaming system that creates a rapid fire effect with one tap of the button. This would be especially helpful in games like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4, 2 games carried by RadioShack.

I can’t really draw it out here at work (RS 8268) but it would be based around a 555 timer. If you do a search on google you can find a diagram and parts needed, using a search phrase like rapid fire 555 timer.
Edit: For something with a timer like that, you would most likely have to take the controller apart and void some warranties.
That isn’t a very good idea. It would make a pretty unfair advantage with the online play if it were any faster then an actual person could fire, but for single player it would be ok. It would also make the game easier and take away from it.
would be so much easier if you learned to play your games on pc
logitech makes a gaming keyboard wich allows the recording of macros (key strokes ) for one button rapid fire
Im an Associate at(01-8805) the easiest way to do rapid fire has nothing to do with a 555 timer in any way go to google and look up Code majic or Pelican with Code breaker its like 20 bucks you get rapid fire on every gun(including like RPGs and Shot guns) no recoil flash which is moving across the screens super fast

I think it’s a great idea. Trying to spam somebody with the plasma pistol in Halo will turn your hand into a hideous, carpal-injured claw. Unless you’re a little kid, who can bounce back from anything but probably cannot operate a soldering iron– so really, this only levels the playing field.
Just swap the “turbo” switch from an NES Advantage stick and graft it on to your XBOX controller.

best bet is to use a ttl 555 timer (low voltage) with the tantalum capacitors and resistor values that will achieve 18 rounds per second ( to lazy to calculate it, use an online one) hook that to a 5v and switch then to the center post on the trigger. another simpler method (not nearly as clean) is to wire the player led light (the player # that you will use, wont work if you are another player #) and wire it to the center post on either trigger. Add a switch if you want to be able to turn it on and off.
