How I do stuff.

A bluetooth emitter for the headphone jack of and IPOD or MP3 player. This would allow all Bluetooth compatible devices to hook into and listen to the IPOD’s songs.

A bluetooth receiver for a home stereo to mate the IPOD in the above configuration

(Examine the Motorola DC800 which Radioshack stocked at 1 point but training on it was alimited - it functioned in both capacities)

What are you trying to build? They already make adapters for iPod that pair with bluetooth headsets (both stereo and mono). For the (low-end) price of about $50 you can get a bluetooth headset and the adapter.

The MotoDC800 would also work, but there would be a lot more wires involved, as to go from the unit to the ipod would require an RCA to 1/8th (headphone) style jack. Thus, you’ve now ADDED wires that you wouldn’t need with one set of headphones to an iPod.

Yes it is a good idea, actually they have something similar already made for Ipod. You plug it into the bottom of Ipod and it sends out the music via bluetooth. Cat 17-3137 $79.99
The problem is that the cost of bluetooth still is slightly higher than what the market is willing to pay so it doesnt sell well. As time goes by the cost of these things will go down,(or go on sale because they didnt sell), however keep in mind that these type of devices typically get the power from the Ipod it’s self which can run the battery down faster. This device has the ability to plug a charger into it.
