Stuff I've done.

I designed and built a specialized Pulse Width Modulator and a Electronic fuel control unit to be used with with a system I am making to make my car get over 125mpg. I built it 90% out of Radioshacks component bins. I went the my local store so many time in the two weeks it took to complete the the workers all told me I should get a job there since I was there so much..But all in all I built a system that is tailored to my specs for thousands less than something that I would have had custom made for me..

Built a hydrogen Generator but need something to modulate for maximum operations at 15 amps
    Care to share your know-how?

Yeah I went in so much that I DID get a job there. You should check out what MIT recently discovered. Try using platinum for 100 hydrogen efficency.

125 MPG!? I call BS. Prove it

125 mpg is BS. Gas mileage is simple, Force X Mass = Accelleration, meaning of course if the car is heavy and the engine has to work for a while to get up to speed you will get worse mileage than if you were cruising down the highway.

weight and resistance are the main factors in gas mileage. for example… IF there were a car with a 4cylinder engine and one with a 6 cylinder that were the same make and model, and the cars were to weigh exactly the same (we’ll say the 4cyl is an iron block and the 6 cyl is an aluminum block) then they would get the same mileage while driving.

idling is a different story, while idling, the engine size is a factor in gas mileage, bigger the displacement, the more gas it takes to fill the cylinders, but when in motion sometimes more displacement can be more efficient as the engine is not using its full potential to get to city and highway speeds (take a honda civic and a v6 honda accord for example, the civic has to almost be put to full throttle just to get up to speed because of lack of power, but the accord does not.)

i have been messing with gas mileage for a while, and yes there are a few tweaks to make a car more efficient but not by more than 15%. most cars run a little on the rich side to battle heat problems but are set from factory to lean out on idle. a car equipped with a knock sensor can lean out a lot more than one without because it can tell how lean is too lean.

of course having a clean air filter, good spark plugs, a clog-free exhaust system, and timing set correctly or maybe even set a little advanced (dont try this without reading up on it because you will damage your valvetrain.) and bumping up the air pressure in your tires a few psi over the manufacture suggestion (stay under the tire max and dont be a speed demon). will all help gas mileage quite considerably.

and now for my biggest pet peave…. HHO injection, im not going to shell out all the details but all you are doing with the HHO, is wasting MORE gas. you are running your alternator to its full potential (which hurts gas mileage) and only producing 4,000 btus of heat (compared to gasoline’s 114,000 btus) it takes anywhere from 15-50 or more amps to make HHO depending on your set up. most modern alternators are anywhere from 50 - 80 amps. you simply cannot CREATE energy to get better gas mileage. that is all i will touch on that for now though.

i am not saying there are not ways to get better mileage from your car, because there are. but i am saying that all the scams of people claiming they can save you gas with these HHO injectors does not and can not work.
a lot of gas is wasted in your catalytic converter and can be reused with a small turbo. (yes putting a turbo on your car can help gas mileage, like i said before though, as long as you are not a speed demon.)

more research needs to be put into pnuematic engines, hydrogen engines, fuel cell cars, and non-combustion engines. nothing will be as efficient as the modern internal combustion engine just because we havent researched a non fossil fuel that is equivalent to the 114,000 btus of gasoline.

didnt mean to write a book, its just very dissapointing that people waste time, money and cars on stupid stuff like this.

I don’t know how much I believe it, this is a pretty vague description. I want it to be true because Im in the process of doing the same thing. Not going for 125mpg but Im looking to atleast double my ~38mpg. List a website, a link to your documentation, something that can help us believe it.

I am a professional radar technician and I call bs too . It sounds like someone has been a radar maint. book to much and found some nifty words. A pulse width modulator huh . How many of you people actually have a clue about what you are writing about ? A PWM generates signal for a hi power transmitter to use , like in a radar.

  8. Yoshi | August 30th, 2008 3:56 pm

So how do you create this Pulse width modulator? I am trying to create one myself but all those youtube videos are junk and over sized.

  9. Steve Greenfield | September 17th, 2008 1:11 am

    Brandon has it right-

I call BS on this “project”. It is physically impossible, just another Perpetual Motion machine. The battery powers something to break apart water into hydrogen and oxygen, which is fed to the engine that powers the alternator that charges the battery that powers the thing to break water…. round and round, much less than 100% efficiency so you -lose- mileage.
