Stuff I want to do.

I want to make an iPod dock with built in speakers. I would do this by taking apart some PC speakers (preferably CA, they sound GREAT!) and make a custom case out of wood and somehow put the speakers in side of the case so only the speaker part would show, the Vol. and Bass controls would be on the front. Then i would take apart and iPod dock and some how make it so only the dock part would show so i could put the iPod in on its back.

Cool, I like it… but how would I plug it into the top? I have the wooden case thing down and all but when you look at a real Ipod dock, they have it go into the USB port. Well, I could just put it into the audio jack for my Nano since it’s on the bottom, nut my dad, bro, and mom have Classics, which are on the top. But on all Ipod’s the USb is on the bottom? Great idea by the way…love it. Just a box with holes for the speakers, the Volume, Treble, and Bass controls. A hole for the audio jack/ USB cord (If u can help me). Maybe a backrest for the ipod. and maybe add a little wire mesh for the speakers. Cool. Cheap, Easy, Smart. THX.

This is rather simple. Either use the AV-cable from apple that has phono, composite video and usb for charging, og use the line out jack in the bottom of the dock. Both are easy, and will work with any iPod with a dock connector.

Well… this would be a great project.
I have one suggestion towards the docking part of the speaker,
I have seen many types of blue tooth headphones that plug in the usb spot on the bottom of the ipod (skull candy makes one 50 bucks) that would be a great way to attach to the left and right speaker. Otherwise, it would be easier to plug in through the headphone jack (using wires from old headphones) so that way you can tell which wires hook up to witch speaker (left vs. right). This seems like a cheeper way than taking apart a useful ipod dock…
Just a thought, hope you enjoy.
