Ion wind flying saucer(or some other geometric form)
Vasil Iliev Tsokov | May 5th, 2008Two years ago when i wos fighting to make a neon lite flash i noticed a srange efect between the two electrodes… I used about 10KV and it wos DC so i get a good flash with some HV capacitors from the neon. one of the electrodes wos glowing in purple light… and when i checked it out i noticed an air stream going from that electrode passing the other one kind’a like a fan… I explayned this to myself like that:
The voltage is high enough to make the electrons leave the surface of the electrode and as it is a charged particle the electric field is accelareting it… while the electrons fly to the other electrode they ionise the air around them so it is affected from the field too… as the air ions are more inert than the electrones they pass the other electrode, creating a steady air flow behind the electrodes.
Usind this efect i propose making 4 wide surface “engines” and mount them in a ultralight frame, and using 4 converters for HV that run in a balanced circut. They can be controlled by disbalancing the voltage in the control circut by the new remotecontrol modules…
Forward, backward and sideways movement can be achieved by lowering the voltage in the diferent engines tilting the device and redirecting the trust sideways.
for the UP,DOWN movement you just change the output voltage of all the converters simotaneously.
I will be happy to get any kind of comments.
P.S.
The engines are field efect tech, so they is allmost no consuption… my multimeter didnt even detected current when i tryed making one of these engines, wich wos so low output that i could just used a tiny fan to replace it :D:D:D

You have any pictures of the flying devices you made? a website for your project?
I’m thinking the power supply would be an issue - While you’re getting a very low current at the 10kv level, most likely virtually static, you have to generate that 10kv somehow. And that’s where your current draw would be - if from batteries with an inverter circuit, those batteries are going to have a pretty heavy draw to get the voltage jumped up that high, which means heavy batteries to be able to sustain the draw for any amount of time. It might be plausible to do a tethered version, which removes the weight considerations of the power supply. It would definitely be interesting to see any photos or schematics you might have for what you’ve done so far.
Srry for bad spelling and grammar… English is a second language to me…
The converters are verry small- i use the well known TL494 to form the pulses to be transformed, and it has the posibility to be controlled by 2 OP Amp’s
each converter comes up to 20 gr, and the power suply is 3 Li-Ion bateries from phones. I tested the converter at full power and it draws all the power in about an hour… i havent mesured the bateries but i guess about 150-200 grams total weight… I will upload some pictures as soon as i have time to make them.
Sorry for the headaches again…
Priviet !!
Have you ever gone to this web site?:
http://jnaudin.free.fr/lifters/main.htm
Mr. Naudin had performed very valuable well-documented experiments on the Ion Wind Lifter technology. So far the lifter payload achieved is in the range of 40 grams. I don’t know what the record is to date. As far as I know, none have achieved lifting its own power supply….yet.
This sounds exactly like the “lifters” on http://www.americanantigravity.com.
Ben said “I’m thinking the power supply would be an issue - While you’re getting a very low current at the 10kv level, most likely virtually static, you have to generate that 10kv somehow”
You could transmit the power through the air from the ground with Tesla coils.
P.S. Vote for my piezoelectric wheel design.
Now all we need is a power supply that doesn’t weight too much. How about a MEMS Turbine?
send electricity from the ground with tesla coils
